He was predeceased by: his mother Helen Denning Smith; his former wife Jean Sailor Smith; his siblings, Garland, Clifford, Thomas "Boo" Smith, Cynthia "Cindy" Pauler and Helen Marie Nelson; his daughter Amy Patricia Smith Puckett; the parent of his child Pat Smith; his son-in-law William "Marshall" Perry, Jr.; and his stepsons, John Sailor and Charles Hardesty.
He is survived by: his father Clifford Smith; his wife Mary Hardesty Smith; his children, Laurie Smith Perry (Tim) and Bill Smith, Jr.; his stepchildren, Marlene Cruite (John), Michelle Sailor Berson (Bob), Gail Sailor Reisinger (Del) and Jim Sailor; and his grandchildren, Lindsay, Megan, Savanna, Matthew, Lee and Daniel. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family.
