She is survived by : her husband George Sands; her sons, Jeffrey Sands (Mariah Steele) and Ken (Natasha); her brother Warren D. Moxey (Ellen); and her grandchildren, Mason, Ethan, Mackenzie and Jillian.

In 1994, she was recognized for her contributions to the occupational therapy profession and awarded the Roster of Fellows Award.
