We are sad to announce that on January 10, 2026, at the age of 81, Gene Blackwell of Acworth, Georgia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Leon Blackwell and Melinda Blackwell; his wife Dorothy "Dottie" Blackwell; his daughter Sherry Blackwell; his grandsons, Chad Ottaway and Blake Pritchett; his siblings, Frankie Aline Joseph, Helen Gail Stephens and Jackie Leon Blackwell; and his nephews, Jody Stephens and Lynn Stephens.
He is survived by: his children, Rick Blackwell (Nancy), Vickie Smith (Eric) and Stacy Blackwell; his grandchildren, Greg Blackwell (Sonni), Bobby Blackwell, Brent Blackwell, Connor Blackwell, Chloe Blackwell, Jared Smith (Alex) and Brittany Smith-LaFleur (Mercedes); and his great grandchildren, Christian Blackwell, Letti Gibson, Zachariah Zarndt, Greyson Ricketts, Jackson Smith and Beaux Smith-LaFleur. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 14th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Sosebee Funeral Home (191 Jarvis St, Canton, GA 30114). A graveside service was held on Wednesday, January 14th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Rolling Hills Memory Gardens (4355 GA-92, Acworth, GA 30102).
