We are sad to announce that on September 25, 2025, at the age of 75, Michael Douglas Gatewood of Acworth, Georgia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Bunyon Gatewood and Mildred Gatewood (Capshaw); his former wife Barbara Gatewood (Draper); his stepson John Lanthorn; and his daughter Dawn Komp (Gatewood).
He is survived by: his wife Nancy; his children, Brad Gatewood (Janice) of Acworth and Melissa Roberson (Ricky) of Euharlee, Georgia; his stepchildren, Richard Lanthorn (Dawn) of Dallas, Vicki Halt (Troy) of Lyons and Valeri Shannonhouse of Acworth, Georgia; and his siblings, Sandra Berkland (James) of Aurora, Ronald Gatewood (Kay) of Aurora and Timothy Gatewood (Diane) of Cartersville, Georgia. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Collins Funeral Home (4947 N Main St, Acworth, GA 30101). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Collins Funeral Home (4947 N Main St, Acworth, GA 30101).
