She was predeceased by: her parents, Lawrence Abernathy and Inez King Abernathy. She is survived by: her daughter Michelle Lanham Strickland; her niece Jill Abernathy McCrory; her sister-in-law Elaine Abernathy (Bo); her siblings, Wanell Dinning and Danny Abernathy; her brothers-in-law, Jackie Dinning and Terry DeFoor; her daughter Renee Lanham Wills (Mike); her son-in-law Carl Strickland; her grandchildren, Josh Castleberry (Tiffany), Jordan Castleberry (Megan), Reeves Whitener and Reagan Whitener (Dylan Rediger); her great grandchildren, Jennings Castleberry, Lucas, Liam and Landon Dover; her sisters, Judy Jones (Jerry), Brenda Giordano, Arlice DeFoor, Nancy Budzius (Fred) and Ann McDermott (Sean); and her cousin Norman Parker (Diann).
