He was predeceased by : his parents, Charlie Staten "C. S." Howell and Myrtice Orilla Flowers Howell; his wife Irma Lee Thomas Howell; his granddaughter Rebecca Parrish Tomlinson; and his sister Carolyn H. Brinson.

He is survived by : his son Bruce; his daughter-in-law Teresa Keene Howell; his daughter Teresa Howell Parrish of Adel; his grandchildren, Christopher of Adel, Crystal Howell of Adel, Whitney of Adel, Will Willis of Adel, Justin Parrish of Atlanta, Georgia and Heath Tomlinson of Adel; and his great grandchildren, Leyton Tomlinson of Adel, Reece Tomlinson of Adel, Bella Howell of Adel, Howell Willis of Adel and Tallie Rae Willis of Adel.
