He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Lee and Hilliard McDonald, Sr.; his wife Joy Ann Barney; his granddaughter Little Erin Hodges; and his siblings, Carrie Hall, Minnie McDonald, Christine Coley, Joseph McDonald and Hilliard McDonald.
He is survived by: his son Aljubrielle McDonald (DeAndra Powell); his grandchildren, Shermetrius Williams, A'Bria McDonald, Jaela McDonald, Ju'Quan McDonald, A. Devin McDonald and Eric Hodges, Jr.; his great grandchildren, Nire'Williams, Nyla Williams and Xhosa McDonald; his daughter-in-law Dawana Hodges (Eric); his nephew Hilliard Perez McDonald; his sister Irene Jackson (Joseph); his sisters-in-law, Ramona Ellison, Doris McDonald and Earnestine McDonald; his close friend Cassandra Moore; and his friend Montezuma Taylor.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, September 27th 2025 at 3:30 PM at the Doretha H. Payne Chapel at Martin Luther King Funeral Home (1908 Martin Luther King Jr Dr, Albany, GA 31701).
He was a proud member of the Roadmasters Club since the 1970s, where he gained the nickname "Teddy Bear" and was recently honored for his involvement and contributions to the sport.
