She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie Smith, Sr. and Vera Lee Smith; her husband Earnest Medlock; her children, Edwin Medlock (Nettie), Chris Medlock and Melissa Medlock; her brother Willie Smith, Jr. (Geneva); and her grandfather Johnny Howard.

She is survived by: her children, Billy Medlock, Sharon Cole (William), Barbara Landfair, Michelle Proby, Ernestine Winchester, David Medlock, Steven Medlock (Tarsha) and Patrick Medlock (Winifer); her siblings, Margaret Jacobs Tatum and Marcellus Howard; and her sister-in-law Bertha Medlock. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
