He was predeceased by: his parents, Zonnie Carter and Verna Rentz Carter; his wife Doris Marie Peacock Carter; his daughter Beverly Harper; his granddaughter Brandi Harper; and his great great grandchild Lucien Harper.
He is survived by: his children, Howard Carter, Jr. (Deborah), Annelle Stanfield of Douglas and Connie Carter of Broxton; and his sister Carol Caves of Vidalia. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
