He was predeceased by: his parents, James "Jim" Batton and Elizabeth Fuller Batton; his wife Annie Pearl Batton; his son James Larry Batton, Jr.; his grandson Marvin Batton; his great grandchild K'Shabre Batton; and his siblings, Valya Jackson, Willie McByrd, Robert Batton, George Batton, Rosby Batton, Riley Batton and Johnny Delane Batton.
He is survived by: his children, Mae Della Smith, Mary Batton, Debra Batton, Anthony Batton, Aimee Batton, Renota Batton and Danielle Batton; his siblings, Clifton Batton, Emma Jean Foster, Franklin Batton (Billie), John Lewis Batton (Sandra), Carylon Deverger, Helen Faulk and Mae Francis Wright; his uncle Easop Fuller (Betty); his friend Janie Bussey; and his children, Brandon, Natoya, Angela and Christina Bussey. He is also survived by 31 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
