He was predeceased by : his parents, Jessie Bell, Sr. and Dossie Mae Jones Bell; his wife Ella Faye Bell; his son Vernon Lee Bell; and his siblings, J. W. Bell, Mercury Bell, Johnny Bell and Betty Jean Batten.

He is survived by : his children, Cassandra Dorobantu of Kingsland, GA, Charlotte Bell of Jacksonville, FL, Jerome Bell (Winter) of Alma, GA and Jesse Owens of Brunswick, GA.; and his siblings, Wiley Bell (Lawanda) of Alma, GA, Ira Bell (Helen) of Thomasville, GA, Virgil Bell of Alma, GA and Ida B. Jenkins of Alma, GA. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
