With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Lonnie Gillis (Alma, Georgia), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 28, 2026 at the age of 81. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Lonnie may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Gaston Gillis and Frances Mills Gillis; his wife Brenda Guthrie Gillis; his grandson Thomas Gaston Walden; and his siblings, Jesse Gillis, Mary Whitley and Carrie Jean Thomas.
He is survived by: his daughters, Beth Priddle (Scott) of Lisbon, ME, Ellen Trowell (Bruce) of Nicholls and Ella Martin (Chris) of Richmond, VA; and his sister Berelle Harper of Douglas. He is also survived by six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
