She was predeceased by: her parents, John Schlichting and Elizabeth Schlichting; her grandparents, John, Margaret Schlichting, A. Bruce and Grace Cook; her aunt Eleanor Campbell; and her uncle Fred Schlichting.

She is survived by: her husband John Mallon; her siblings, Nancy Schlichting (Pam Theisen), John Schlichting (Eileen O'Donnell Schlichting) and Joan Keifling (Tim Keifling); her stepdaughters, Jessica Hamlin (Bill Hamlin) and Jennifer Kim (John Kim); her grandchildren, Robin, Reese, Charlie, Nadia Kim and Max Hamlin; her siblings' children, Karla Keifling, Allie Theisen, John, Jamie Schlichting and Nick Theisen; her cousin John Campbell; and her child Scottish Rite Hospital. She is also survived by sister to her three siblings, a doting aunt to her nephews and nieces.

She gave many sermons at local churches, and enjoyed teaching Sunday School classes (including during the pandemic by Zoom) during her retirement.
