He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles D. Folkerts and Virginia Folkerts; and his brother Robert Folkerts. He is survived by: his sister Shirley; his wife Shirley; his children, Judy Ambrose (Rob) and Jim Folkerts; his grandchildren, Gabrielle Belcher (Joseph), Mackenzie Ambrose, Addison Ambrose and Caden Ambrose; and his sisters, Joan Speckman (Dale) and Janet Lew (Gary).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ the Shepherd Lutheran Church.
