She was predeceased by : her parents, Thomas Charles Smith "Tommy" and Lorraine Davis Smith; her stepmother Ruth King Smith; her son Walter Davenport Stapleton, III; and her sister Jessica Frances Smith.
She is survived by : her daughters, Emmilyn Stapleton Boykin (Sam) of Atlanta and Claire Stapleton Batson (Court) of New Orleans; her sister Gail Ledger (Charlie) of Americus; her stepbrothers, Charlie Johnston (Tammy) of Leslie and Bill Johnston of Atlanta; and her grandchildren, Walter Davenport Stapleton Boykin, Samuel Marks Boykin, IV and Emmilyn Elesabeth Claire Boykin.
