He is survived by: his wife Nancy Howells Short; his daughter Laura S. Rooks; his son-in-law William Rooks of Americus; his son Chan Short; his daughter-in-law Dr. Rebecca Short of Americus; his grandchildren, Annslee Rooks, Adalyn Rooks, Kathlyn Short and Bo Short; and his sisters-in-law, Frances Short of Americus and Kristine H. Lebbos of Charlotte, N. C.. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and countless friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Short's Residence (612 Reese Park, Americus, GA 31709). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Central Baptist Church (190 Upper River Rd, Americus, GA 31709). A burial will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Andersonville National Cemetery (612 Reese Park, Americus, GA 31709).
In lieu of flowers donations can be in Mr. Short's memory to Southland Academy Athletic Department.
