It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Willie Harris Jr. (Americus, Georgia), born in Montezuma, Georgia, who passed away on January 29, 2023, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Elizabeth Nelson Harris and John Willie Harris, Sr.; his sons, Alfonza Smith and Kelly Ivory; his siblings, Angela Johnson, Robert Nelson and Ronnie Nelson; and his grandchildren, Kelly Harp and John Thomas Clayton.
He is survived by: his daughters, Christi Michelle Harris and Debra Ivory of Oglethorpe, Georgia; his niece Marilyn Rogers of Marshallville, Georgia; his cousin Tara Mallard of Montezuma, Georgia; his siblings, Elois Clark of Montezuma, Lavern N. Taylor of Atlanta, Brenda Royal of Macon, Georgia and Reverend Curtis Bason, Sr. (Beverly); his aunts and uncles, Sara Tutt (Phillip), Martha Ford of Macon, Georgia, Willie K. Nelson, Sr. (Mary Ann) of Maryland and Ezell Nelson of Chesterfield, Virginia; and his friends, Eddie Cochran, Willie McCrary and Jean Brown. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives.
