With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mary Ruth Wainwright of Americus, Georgia, born in Calhoun, Georgia, who passed away on July 6, 2023 at the age of 94. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Mary Ruth Wainwright to pay them a last tribute.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Theo Alston and Neta Page Alston; and her son Joe Alston. She is survived by : her son William Wainwright (Kathryn); and her grandchildren, Dawn Bullock (Kyle), Michael Wainwright, Sr. (Tammi), Joshua Alston (Florence), Tiger Taylor, Cammie Reese, Tammy Holloman, Cecil Bell (Laura) and Alisa Martin (Adam). She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the County Line Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 6374 Englishville Rd., Andersonville, GA 31711.

“It's weird how when people die the littler parts of you that lived and existing alongside them seem so much farther away than they did when you knew their heart was still beating.....life never seems long enough or seems to drag on forever when you're in the thick of this human experience. I will miss Grandma Sweets and the soft gentleness of her voice. I will miss sunbeam wheat toast, sharp cheddar cheese, Lima beans, sweet tea with a magical hint of lemon, cartoon network, Andy Griffith show,”
