He was predeceased by: his parents, William Ballard and Elisabeth Ballard; and his son-in-law Russell Thomas, III. He is survived by: his wife Emily Ballard of Americus; his daughter Angie Ballard Thomas of Americus; his grandchildren, Emily Anne, Mike Strickland, Sara Elisabeth, Derek Wolcott and Mary Frances Thomas (John Farmer); his great grandchildren, Samantha Anne Strickland, Madison Taylor Wolcott, Thomas Ryan Wolcott and Barrett Oliver Wolcott; and his brother Kenneth Ballard (Donna) of Gurnsey, WY.. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital PO Box 31356 Tampa, FL. 33631.
