It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Clara James Hyers (Athens, Georgia), who passed away on May 18, 2025, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Alton "Walstein" James and Lillie Ruth McMillion James; and her siblings, Dale James Davis and Albert "Al" Walstein James. She is survived by: her husband Johnn Earl Hyers, Sr.; her son John, Jr.; her granddaughter Hannah Elizabeth Cloud Barber; her great grandchildren, Liam Barber and Ava Louise Barber; her sisters, Norma James Waters Walker, Emily James Saussy and Sandra James Wheless (Steve); and her brother-in-law Paul Davis. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held on Wednesday, May 21st 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Athens First Presbyterian Church (185 E Hancock Ave, Athens, GA 30601).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Athens or Louise and Johnny Hyers Endowment Fund at The University of Georgia Foundation.
