With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Francis William Malinowski of Athens, Georgia, born in Jamaica, New York, who passed away on December 20, 2023 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Wladyslaw Malinowski and Stanislawa Malinowski; his siblings, Gladys M. Matlach and Felix Malinowski; and his wife Martha Saye Malinowski.
He is survived by: his daughters, Laura M. Freeman (Larry), Kathy M. Lingenfelser (George), Ellie M. DeSa (Derek) and JoAnne M. Shaw (Steve); his grandchildren, Alex Freeman (Rachel), Chelsea Kilpatrick (Matt), Charlee Thaxton (Patrick) and Matthew Lingenfelser; and his great grandchildren, Ayla, Wyatt Freeman, Clayton, Maddox Kilpatrick, Ava and Oliver Thaxton. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
In 2013, he was inducted into the Athens Athletic Hall of Fame for his countless contributions to the community as an educator. That same year he was inducted into the National Football Foundation College Hall of Fame.
