She was predeceased by: her parents, Leonard Rutland and Vonell Brumblow Rutland; and her husband Walter Spinks "Sonny" Carter. She is survived by: her daughter Nikki Coker (Noah) of Athens; her grandson Isaac Noah Coker of Athens; and her brothers, Larry Rutland (Jean) of Lenox and Jerry Rutland (Shirley) of Lenox. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
