She was predeceased by: her parents, Andrew Varn and Harriet Hudson Varn. She is survived by: her husband Wayne Mathews; her children, David Mathews (Linda) and Leigh Segell; her grandchildren, Thomas Mathews (Loganne) and Eric Mathews (Haylee); her great grandchildren, Ryanne and Maelynne; and her sister Kay Chafin (Ted).
Visitation was held on Friday, September 26th 2025 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Lord & Stephens Funeral Homes (4355 Lexington Rd, Athens, GA 30605). A graveside service was held on Friday, September 26th 2025 at 2:15 PM at the Athens Memory Gardens (5195 Lexington Rd, Athens, GA 30605).
