We announce the death of Jacquelyn Jo Herndon of Athens, Georgia, who passed away on September 8, 2026, at the age of 96. Jacquelyn will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, B. D. Hutchison and Elizabeth Hutchison; and her husband G. Melvin Herndon. She is survived by: her daughter Kim; her son-in-law Ronny Just; her son Kerry; her daughter-in-law Angie Herndon; her sister-in-law Elaine Satterfield; her grandchildren, Meghan Lindsay (John), Matthew Just (Erin) and Drew Herndon (Pressley); and her great grandchildren, Felicity Just, Fielding Lindsay and Hattie Herndon. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 13th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Lord & Stephens Funeral Homes (4355 Lexington Rd, Athens, GA 30605). A memorial service was held on Sunday, September 13th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Community Christmas of Oglethorpe County or Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.
