He was predeceased by : his parents, June Thompson and John W. Thompson; his brother Andy Thompson; and his wife Mary Ellen Thompson. He is survived by : his son John; his daughter-in-law Shannon; his grandchildren, Addie and John David Thompson (Susan Thompson); his great grandchildren, Ken and Tim Manley; his sister Beverly Mize; his nephew Richard; and his niece Shelly Mize. He is also survived by his cousins, loving relatives, and numerous friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, April 11th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Lord & Stephens Funeral Homes (1211 Jimmy Daniel Rd, Watkinsville, GA 30677). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 12th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
