He was predeceased by: his parents, John Allen Rice and Vernice Hettie Elliott Rice. He is survived by: his child Jamie Lee Roedig (Tim); his grandchildren, Cort and Eve; his brother Dennis Rice of Athens; his nieces and nephews, Nathan Rice, Anna Lonergan (Todd), Amy Sams, Benjamin Rice and Mark Rice; and his sister-in-law Karen Redwine.
