He was predeceased by: his parents, Stuart Wilford McGarity, Sr. and Frances Smith McGarity. He is survived by: his wife Kim C. McGarity; his children, Kelley McGarity Humphries (Billy) of Austin, TX and Sean Stuart McGarity (Teri) of Athens; his siblings, Greg McGarity (Sheryl) and Peggy McGarity Bryant (Steve); his nieces and nephews, Alex McGarity (Laura), Abby Bryant and Bradley Bryant; and his friend Matt Hembree.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Prince Avenue Baptist Church, Beech Haven Baptist Church or Athens Y Camp.
