He was predeceased by: his parents, Joel Thomas Bowen and Inez Phillips Bowen of Covington, Georgia.; and his siblings, Billy Thomas Bowen and Mildred Bowen Martin. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Bunker Bowen; and his sons, Thomas Shay Hopkins (Jeanette) of Atlanta, Jesse Michael Bowen (Ginny) of Decatur and Toby Phillips Bowen (MaryGlenn) of Athens.
