It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Thomas Wheless (Athens, Georgia), born in Oglethorpe, Georgia, who passed away on December 26, 2025, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph H. Wheless and Lula Catherine Thomas Wheless; his wife Chong Sunnie Wheless; and his siblings, Joseph H. Jr., Ray, Louise, Willie Lee and Betty.
He is survived by: his children, Laura Kwak (Kee), Gina Fessler (John) and Dongchol Chang; his grandchildren, Eric Kwak, Lauren Gardner (Thomas) and Renate Fessler (Anton Swain-Gil); and his sisters, Evelyn Carlisle and Kay Smith. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
