He was predeceased by: his parents, Eunice Brooks and Frank Brooks; and his wife Betty Joyce Thurmond Brooks. He is survived by: his children, Geraldine McCants (Chuck) and Lee Brooks (Cathy); and his grandchildren, Howard McCants, III (Rebecca), Joyce McCants Smith, Teri Tankersley (Russell), Jan Fleming (Allen) and Robin Purcell (Shane). He is also survived by thirteen great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
