He was predeceased by: his parents, Avery Severt Sr. and Roxey Bernice Severt. He is survived by: his wife Betty; his daughter Mimi Maulella; his grandson Hunter Maulella of Howard Beach; and his siblings, Betty Rouse of Chilhowie and James Severt of Martinsville, Virginia.. He is also survived by many cousins, nephews, and nieces.
