It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gwen Smith Denney of Atlanta, Georgia, who passed away on July 27, 2025, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Gwen Smith Denney to pay them a last tribute.
In the vast expanse of eternity, Gwen Smith shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid Gwen Smith farewell, her loved ones carry with them the precious gift of her memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Evenly Lee Smith and Jerome Norris Smith; her husband Willis Denney; and her son-in-law Elliott Gammage. She is survived by: her children, Art Denney (Terese), Lee Denney Gammage, Lyn Denney Arnold (Alan) and Clet Denney; and her sister Gail Smith Chivers. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 23rd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Southwest Christian Church (3836 US-29, Newnan, GA 30265). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 23rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family has respectfully requested donations to be made to Southwest Christian Care, 7225 Lester Road, Union City, GA 30291.
