He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Smith and Dorothy Miller Smith; his great-grandparents, George Miller and Amanda Miller; his grandparents, Jesse Miller and Lora Mae Miller; and his siblings, Joan Lester and Ronnie Smith.
He is survived by: his son Jerald "Scott" Smith; his daughter-in-law Jessica Giraldo-Lopez Smith; and his granddaughter Leah Lynn Smith. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
