He was predeceased by: his parents, John H. Leonard and Irene Williams Leonard; and his siblings, Charles, James, Ben, Alfred, Earl, Thomas, Essie, Sarah and Sadie Leonard.
He is survived by: his children, Joseph F. Leonard, Jr. (Gwendolyn) and Javonne Leonard Hines (Russell); and his grandchildren, Joseph F. Leonard III and Jada L. Hines.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Murray Brothers Funeral Home Cascade Chapel (1199 Utoy Springs Rd SW, Atlanta, GA 30331). A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Hoosier United Methodist Church (2545 Benjamin E Mays Dr SW, Atlanta, GA 30311).
He also supported organizations including the American Cancer Society, Benjamin Banneker House, Ronald McDonald House Charities, and St. Jude Children's Hospital.
