He was predeceased by: his parents, John T. Whelchel and Virginia Whelchel (Heath). He is survived by: his brothers, Mark T. Whelchel, Sr. and David Whelchel; his nephews, Andrew Whelchel, Tim Whelchel and Mark T. Whelchel, Jr. (Michelle Whelchel); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Trey Garrett (Melissa Moore) and Aslinn.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Greenwood Cemetery (1173 Cascade Cir SW, Atlanta, GA 30311).
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
