With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Virginia Sledge Allen of Atlanta, Georgia, born in Sunflower, Mississippi, who passed away on October 20, 2022 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Albert Guy Sledge and Willie Grace Crossland Sledge; her husband William Preston Allen, Jr. (Bill); her son Stephen C. Allen; and her great grandchild Henry Edward "Ward" Winslett, IV.
She is survived by: her children, Steve, William Preston Allen, III (Barbara) and Carol Allen Winslett (Eddie); and her close friend Gwen Carreras-Harriss. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
