He was predeceased by: his parents, James Henry Hill Jr. and Idell Hill; and his siblings, Edna Mae Hill and Clarence C. Hill. He is survived by: his children, Jonathan Hill (Monica) and Dr. Susan Blankson (Joel); and his grandchildren, Ezra Hill and Jolynn Blankson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
