With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Virginia Ann Payne Jones of Auburn, Georgia, born in McCaysville, Georgia, who passed away on September 19, 2025 at the age of 82. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As Virginia Ann departs from our midst, her spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Virginia Ann. Though Virginia Ann may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
She was predeceased by: her husband George M. Jones, Jr.; and her sons, Kenneth Matthew Davis and Jefferson Scott Davis. She is survived by: her children, Reuben Glenn Davis, Jr. and Kimberly Davis (Freeman) of Auburn, GA; and her siblings, Herman Ray Payne of Nashville, TN, Nancy Irene Turner of Sugar Hill, GA and Fannie Marie Sanchez of Ohio. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 28th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Flanigan Funeral Home (4400 S Lee St, Buford, GA 30518). A memorial service was held on Sunday, September 28th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home (4400 S Lee St, Buford, GA 30518).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children Hospital in memory of Virginia Payne Jones.
