He is survived by: his wife Dr. Chandra Pathiraja; his children, Dr. Viranga Pathiraja (Don) and Asanka Pathiraja; his grandchildren, Devin and Tarin Hettiaratchy; and his siblings, Dr. Ranjith Pathiraja (Chandra), Ranjinie Welgama, Dr. Emil Balasandiran (Nimmi), Mayadunne, Sarath (Seetha), Kumar, Sisira (Lakshmi), Kanthi, Bandula, Ravi (Sandya) and Dhammika (Renuka).
