She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Samuel and Virginia Adams Atkins; and her brother Samuel Atkins, Jr.. She is survived by: her spouse Edward "Birnie" Florie; her stepdaughters, Katrice Walker (Jason) of North Augusta, SC and Melissa Freitas (Robert) of North Augusta, SC; her daughters, Amy Tran (Chris) of Columbia, SC and Ashley Rivero (Martin) of Lincolnton, GA; and her brother Charles R. Atkins (Joan) of St. Simons Island, GA.

She frequently hosted donation drives for animal shelters, collecting food, blankets, and other supplies for rescued animals.
