He was predeceased by: his father James Oates; and his stepson Robbie Brinson. He is survived by: his wife Karen Oates; his mother Pennie Oates; his brother Chuck Oates (Shannon); and his sister-in-law Sharon Elvins (Art). He is also survived by three nieces, one nephew, three great nieces and three great nieces.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home (513 W Main St, Claxton, GA 30417). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 25th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Metter First Baptist Church (50 S Rountree St, Metter, GA 30439).
