He was predeceased by: his parents, James D. Rooks and Lillian Harrison Rooks; and his brother Frank Rooks. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Rooks; his daughters, Rebecca Fortson and Mary Ellen Fortson; his granddaughter Haley Yahn; and his sister Lydia Cameron. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
