He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Payne and Elizabeth Payne; and his sister Mary Bagley Payne. He is survived by: his wife Jean Murphy Payne; his children, Jonathan Edward Payne (Marla), Sheryl Payne Cooley (Jim), Nicole Payne Shoemaker (John) and Benjamin Michael Payne (Lauren); and his sisters, Elizabeth Payne Dause and Dr. Camille Payne.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 1st 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Westminster Presbyterian Church (4303 Wheeler Rd, Martinez, GA 30907). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, November 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Westminster Presbyterian Church Building Fund in his memory.
