He was predeceased by: his parents, Rosamond Chapman and Bert Chapman. He is survived by: his wife Lessie Chapman; his children, Carl Chapman (Julie) and Cathy Nathan (Drew); his stepsons, Tommy Garland (Lora) and John Garland; his grandchildren, Anna Santos (Rodrigo), Elizabeth Miller and Jen Manning (Nick); his stepgrandchildren, Elizabeth Whitney (Brandon), Grace Jackson (Alex), Kayla Prater and Ashley Garland; his great grandchildren, Wesley Chapman and Ezekiel Santos; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Harper, Hazel Whitney, River, Eleanor Jackson, Paisley, Palmer Prater and Raelynn Kratz. He is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends.
A funeral service was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Marvin United Methodist Church (4400 Wheeler Rd, Martinez, GA 30907). A reception was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Hillcrest Memorial Park (2700 Deans Bridge Rd, Augusta, GA 30906).
