As Georgia departs from our midst, her spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Georgia. Though Georgia may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Lee and Jessie Mae Hicks; and her son James Clanton Jr.. She is survived by: her husband James Joseph Clanton Sr.; and her children, Ardriane Denise Johnson, Sheila Pledger, Danny Clanton, Dwenda Everson (David), Gail Cummings, Karen Walker (Christian) and Terry Prince (Betty). She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
Viewing was held on Monday, March 30th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the C. A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home (314 Laney Walker Blvd A, Augusta, GA 30901). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, March 31st 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Bethel Community Apostolic Church (2599 Kelly St, Augusta, GA 30904). A burial was held on Tuesday, March 31st 2026 from 12:15 PM to 12:30 PM at the Clanton Cemetery.
