He is survived by: his wife Virginia Burgess Syms; his children, Johnny Syms, Marie Shelby (Jim) and Janet Stewart (Rich); his grandchildren, Brittany Syms, Lane Syms, Travis Shelby, Justin Shelby, Kyle Marcano, Kristian Young, Meghan Stewart, Michael McKenzie, Candace Syms and Nicole Syms; his great grandchild Inara Shelby; his sisters, Shirley Wannamaker and Patricia Garrett; and his pet Koko.
