He was predeceased by: his wife Faye Butler Claxton; his sons, Chad Butler Claxton and Blake Butler Claxton; and his parents, Odell Brown Claxton (Dell) and James Luther Claxton.

He is survived by: his sister Sandra Brown Claxton (Sissy) of Evans, GA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Warren Baptist or the American Heart Association.
