He was predeceased by: his wife Roselee Rice (Cagle); his brothers, Edgar Rice, Ira Rice, Thomas Rice and Teddy Rice; and his grandchildren, Jessica Johnson and Jackson Pennington.

He is survived by: his daughters, Carolyn Dunn (Steven), Deborah Johnson and Kathleene Pennington (John); his grandchildren, Steven Dunn, Jr., Laura Doyle, Christopher Johnson, Brett Johnson, Kendyl Pennington and Karson Pennington; his great grandchildren, Karter Doyle, Khloe Doyle, Lily Johnson and Abby Johnson; and his sister Claudette Pearson.
