He is survived by: his children, Marlon Carpenter (Janice), Maurice Carpenter, Eric Wiley and Karen C. Washington; and his siblings, Annie Bell Grant, Leon Carpenter (Andreana), Frank Carpenter (Gloria) and Charles Carpenter (Yvonne). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren.
