He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorothy Annette James Saxon and Heyward Matheney Saxon Sr.; his daughter-in-law Meredith Saxon; and his granddaughter Kady Leighann Saxon. He is survived by: his wife Pamela Fillman Saxon; his children, Heyward Matheney Saxon III, William Michael Saxon and Jessica Elizabeth Saxon; his grandchildren, Jordan Livingston, Havvanah Saxon, Jaxen Livingston, Gavin and Gabriel Caputo; and his siblings, Susan Patterson (Ronald) and Frankie "Joann" Saxon King (Bill).
